Texas Fails to comply with National Voter Registration Act
Finally, I wanted to highlight that Texas has been refusing, in addition, to comply with federal voter registration law, namely the Motor Voter Act. By not complying with the National Voter Registration Act when people go online to update their driver's license, 1.5 million Texans annually are missing an opportunity to register to vote. This, quite frankly, hits the entire population, but it hits frequent movers even harder because it means that as they move, they are no longer registered at their current address. Frequent movers tend to be poorer and younger, and therefore in Texas they are much more likely to be people of color.
