State Inaction Causes Thousands Each Year to go Unregistered

A third failing of voter registration that I wanted to highlight was the Secretary of State's persistent failure to enforce a state law requiring that high schools register to vote young people. This has been something the state has refused to enforce in recent years, despite public outcry, despite the fact that 72% of our high school students in Texas are persons of color themselves, and despite the fact that the state's inaction is causing literally hundreds of thousands of young people every year to go unregistered, and therefore not be able to participate in our democracy.
